Our first show “Eleemosynary” by Lee Blessing opened at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre from March 12, 13, and 14 and two shows at the North Delta Fire Hall Centre for the Arts on March 20 and 21, 2009. We went on to win Best Production at the Theatre BC Greater Vancouver Zone Festival on April 30, and then returned to the Tsawwassen Arts Centre for a short return engagement on June 26 and 27, to prepare for the provincial Mainstage competition in Maple Ridge.
Here are some comments from audience members:
A friend & I were privileged to be in the audience at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre last Sat. to experience your memorable production of “Eleemosynary”. It was outstanding. I am telling everyone I know about your incredibly talented theatre company. All 3 actors portrayed their characters with such conviction & passion. It was a totally flawless & seamless performance. Mesmerizing! I would not have missed it. Continued success.
The play last night was absolutely wonderful……… I thought all three of you did just a superb job of playing your parts….it was a very good evening.
I thought your whole company did an amazing job – from the music and lighting to set the mood, to great use of the simple set, to your three performances, that were so rich and heartfelt and very real.
Last night I was fortunate enough to attend the opening night of Eleemosynary. The compelling story of three women and their struggles with life, self and one another is delivered by three extraordinary actresses. Each character is distinctly unique and one can relate to each in a different way, whether it be Dorothea’s absurd ideas, Artie’s resistance or Echo’s desire to bring her family together. The story unfolds with intellect, humor and an honesty that will not only entertain but leave a lasting impression as well. I urge you to go and experience Eleemosynary for yourself - you will leave a little smarter and a little wiser too.
It was a great night. You should be very proud.
The play…outstanding performances by all three ladies. I experienced all ranges of emotion. From laughing to tears and everything between. The content was something I could really relate to, being a daughter & a mother and having a mother.
I am definitely coming to Mission to see this show again! Anyone who missed the Delta run should do the same… Don’t miss your chance to see what may be the best show this season!
Thank you for entertaining us - You all were FABULOUS!
Look forward to Get Real’s next production.
Thank you for inviting us. I thoroughly enjoyed the play. The acting was first class and everything seemed to go so smoothly for an opening night performance. Congratulations to you all!
